Parent Communication Pathway

We believe that good communication between home and school is vital to ensure the best outcomes for our children. The pathways outlined below are designed to make sure your questions or concerns are directed to the most appropriate person first, allowing them to be resolved quickly and effectively. This approach also ensures that staff can focus on their areas of responsibility while knowing that, if needed, there are clear next steps for parents to follow. By working together in this way, we can maintain positive relationships and keep our focus on supporting the children’s learning and wellbeing.

The diagram below shows these communication pathways clearly:

Communication Preferences

Parents have several ways to communicate with the school, including Class Dojo, face-to-face conversations at the school gate, and phone calls. While Class Dojo is ideal for quick clarifications or simple messages, it can sometimes lead to misunderstandings in tone or intention. For more sensitive or complex matters—such as incidents in school, behavior concerns, safeguarding issues, SEND discussions, or complaints—a phone call or face-to-face meeting is strongly preferred. These methods allow for clearer communication, better understanding, and often lead to quicker resolutions.

As a guide, please see below:

  • Class Dojo

    • Best for quick clarifications or simple updates.
    • Avoid using for sensitive or complex issues, as tone and intention can be misunderstood.
  • Face-to-Face Conversations

    • Ideal for discussing incidents, behavior, safeguarding, SEND, or complaints.
    • Can happen at the school gate at the start or end of the day or by arranging a meeting via the school office.
    • Allows for clearer communication and immediate feedback.
  • Phone Calls

    • Preferred method for important or sensitive matters.
    • Provides direct interaction and helps resolve issues quickly.
