Art

Our high-quality art and design education is designed to engage, inspire and challenge pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. As pupils progress, they should be able to think critically and develop a more rigorous understanding of art and design. We teach children how art and design both reflect and shape our history, and contribute to the culture, creativity and wealth of our nation.

Our teaching and implementation of the Art and Design Curriculum is based on the National Curriculum.  The statutory requirements allow us to devise our own scheme and units of work and approach the subject with creativity and imagination.  In order for our pupils to express themselves creatively through Art and Design we ensure they are taught the basic Art and Design skills, techniques and knowledge and  have the opportunity to practice those skills. We teach drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, textiles, 3D, knowledge and digital art within a framework which outlines a progression of basic skills at each key stage, ensuring a well-structured approach to this creative subject.
