Week Four 27.04.20
This week's text is a popular story by Martin Waddell with beautiful illustrations by Helen Oxenbury. "Farmer Duck" is a funny story about a fat and lazy farmer who uses a duck to do all the work on his farm. The other animals realise the unfairness of the situation and chase the farmer away. The animals then share the work with the duck and run the farm together their own way. The pictures offer lots of opportunities to talk to your child and the text builds confidence to retell and join in with lots of repetition.
There is a guide for reading the story together with some points of discussion and then some writing ideas. There is a menu of suggested activities for you to choose from that cover all areas of the EYFS curriculum. There are some powerpoints that you may like to share with your child that support some of the activity ideas.
The White Rose Maths site has this weeks Maths suggested activities.
At school the children follow the DFE Letters and Sounds progression for the teaching of phonics. The DFE have funded a channel for daily phonics lessons on Youtube. The letter below explains how it works and has the Youtube link.
