SATs 2010
For Year 6 SATs week is a really busy and important time of their school lives. The SATs, which stands for Standard Assessment Tasks, are tests given to the children at the end of Year 6 to show their academic progress.
The table below shows the percentage of children achieving the different levels in the tests in 2010. Please be aware that these percentages do not always add up to 100% as only children working at level 3 and above are entered for the tests.

FAQs – here are some off the questions frequently asked by parents whose children are due to sit their SATs. I hope the answers are useful. If you have any others please contact Mrs. Leone.

 What do SATs show?
The idea of statutory SATs is to demonstrate what the children have learned and retained during Key Stage 2 (Y3 to 6). The test helps teachers learn more about the strengths and weaknesses of what your child understands about a subject.

What are the children tested on?
The children are tested on all of the work they have covered in all year groups so far. Year 6 children are tested on their reading, writing, spelling, mental maths and mathematical understanding.

How can parents help?
Encourage your child to do their best. It is important that the children are not put under too much stress or pressure, allowing them to still play and enjoy themselves during the test week. You can support your child by working through revision guides or playing many of the interactive revision games available on the Internet.

How to help your child!
Make sure they get enough sleep.
Make sure they eat breakfast.
Encourage them to ask their teacher if they unsure about anything.
Explain that SATs are a way of showing how good they are and what they know.
